Pre-visit Assessment
Our Pre-visit Assessment
Our Pre-Visit Assessment is a crucial first step to ensure that each family’s unique needs are met. This assessment process helps identify any underlying issues that may have previously hindered contact, assessing both the emotional and practical aspects of rebuilding family relationships. At Voice of the Child, we focus on making recommendations that set a foundation for positive, supportive contact experiences.
What the Pre-visit Assessment Covers
Our assessment is designed to prepare both children and adults for what to expect during contact sessions, especially in cases where there has been little or no contact for a prolonged period. The assessment also addresses concerns around emotional readiness, especially for those feeling anxious or apprehensive. Through this preparatory work, we aim to ease concerns and provide a smooth transition into regular contact sessions.
Who Can Refer to Use our Contact Centre?
To make our services accessible, we accept referrals from both professionals and individuals:
- Professionals: Family courts, CAFCASS, solicitors, social workers, and healthcare providers.
- Individuals: Self-referrals are welcome, allowing parents or guardians to initiate the process directly.

F.A.Q. About Our Services
A child contact centre is a safe, neutral place where children of separated families can spend time with their non-resident parent or other family members.
Costs can vary depending on the type of contact service. Please contact us to discuss your specific situation, and we will provide details on any fees involved.
Currently, Voice of the Child Contact Centre does not have specific funding to support families directly. Therefore, our services are self-funded unless the referral is made by social services, in which case the costs might be covered by them. We recommend discussing your situation with your solicitor or your local council to explore any available options.
No, you do not have to meet your ex-partner if you prefer not to. We can arrange staggered arrival times and separate waiting areas.
The type of contact is often determined through discussions between parents, legal advisors, or by a court order. Our role is to support the agreed arrangement in a safe environment.
